(GDS) The Blue Goose"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In Peter Blackmore\u2019s play, Mrs Portal, the wife of the Borough Treasurer, always insists on taking the juvenile lead in all the town&#8217;s amateur opera evenings.&nbsp;&nbsp;On the night that she is playing Yum Yum one of her daughters elopes with the dashing captain of the yacht &#8220;The Blue Goose&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;Unfortunately he falls overboard and the yacht drifts off with the girl aboard.&nbsp;&nbsp;The lifeboat crew are called out \u2013 but they have all been taking part in the opera evening and are all in costume<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\">This was the first-ever play from the Grenoside Dramatic Society, which had been \u201crevived\u201d a few months earlier. The society had actually started in February 1948, although we don\u2019t yet know what happened<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Mrs B.
