Constance Cox\u2019s play follows young artist Walter Hartright (Alex Hayward-Browne) who comes across a ghostly woman, dressed in white, lost in London.  He is hired as a drawing teacher by old Frederick Fairlie (John Highfield) to teach his niece Laura (Kathy Allan) and her devoted half-sister, Marian (Deborah Hester).  Laura is engaged to the abusive Sir Percival Glyde (Jonathan Hester), but Walter and Laura – who bears a striking resemblance to the ghostly woman – fall in love.  Walter finds that the mysterious woman in white is Anne Catherick (also played by Kathy Allan) and that she is kept in an asylum.  Glyde only wants Laura\u2019s money, to repay his debts to the sinister Count Fosco (Tony Gallagher).  Anne escapes and tells Laura about Glyde\u2019s intentions.  When Glyde hears that they have been communicating he plans to switch Laura and Anne – placing Laura in the mental asylum and burying Anne under Laura\u2019s name<\/p>\n\n\n\n
