1951-10 (BC) Bonaventure

Charlotte Hastings’ play concerns a flood in the fen country which has trapped two prison officials and their prisoner, Sarat Carn (Rispah Bradshaw), who is on her way to the gallows for the murder of her brother.  But Sister Mary Bonaventure (Ruby Ibbotson) is convinced of her innocence and just before the police launch arrives, a confession is forced from the real murderer

Alan Marshall Scott produces.  The play is set in a convent: stage fittings were loaned by The Catholic Repository, and Chapeltown Dramatic Society.  Roy Ollerearnshaw joins, playing Dr Jeffreys, and will stay for 45 years.  Walter Blackwell also joins, doing publicity, and he’ll stay for 32 years
