In today’s money, the play makes a loss of £120, leaving the society with just £200 in the bank (half what it had a year ago), and the possibility of winding up the society is mentioned.  There are four problems – a lack of male members, finances are weak, audience support is poor, and people not in the cast are accused of a lack of enthusiasm.  At the AGM the society almost folded completely due to the lack of male actors, but agreed to continue, performing all-women plays for as long as necessary
