As Rafe, Roy Ollerearnshaw was excellent, but was so engrossed in his role that he turned to Bruce Staniforth playing the role of Arthur and shaking his hand said “Well, Bruce”!
It could have also been this play where Roy had to change into a dressing gown. He managed to forget about a whole scene and got changed too early. Being the excellent ad-libber that he was he carried it off with great aplomb and made some excuse to leave the stage, leaving the rest of the cast wondering what had just happened!
Bill Naughton also wrote the screenplay for the film “Alfie”, which starred Michael Caine
