1962-10 (GDS) The Keeper of the Keys

Written by Vera I. Arlett, this was GDS’ entry in the Festival of One-Act Plays at Shirtcliffe, against Shiregreen, Frecheville and Southey.  It’s the society’s first ever competition, and though they don’t win, they do well.  The play was subsequently performed four more times in local churches. In the story, Peter is tired of being in charge of the gates of Heaven and endeavours to persuade Gabriel, Michael and Azrael to relieve him

Betty Bellamy produced, and taking part with the others were her daughter Jane, aged 6, and her son Charles, aged 10
