1973-05 (GCP) Bonaventure

Charlotte Hastings’ play concerns a flood in the fen country which has trapped two prison officials and their prisoner, Sarat Carn (Brenda Hester), who is on her way to the gallows for the murder of her brother.  But Sister Mary Bonaventure (Lois Wyke) is convinced of her innocence and just before the police launch arrives, a confession is forced from the real murderer

Betty Bellamy produces.  Lois Wyke returned – she’d had to drop out of When We Are Married 18 months ago. Jonathan Hester joins, doing Lighting and Effects.  He’ll become the Accompanist in two years time, then take his first stage part 8 years after that, and he is still doing both! It seems to be the last involvement for Cyril Wilkinson, after 12 years

Mary Keeton played Sister Josephine with “a realistic Scottish accent” – she’d had an Irish accent as a nun in last year’s Ladies in Retirement!
