2015-10 (GBC) The Hollow

An unhappy game of romantic follow-the-leader explodes into murder one weekend at The Hollow, home of Sir Henry and Lucy Angkatel (Brian Barber and Viv Stuart). Philanderer Dr Cristow (Jonathan Hester) is at the centre of the trouble when, assembled in one place, we find his dull but devoted wife, Gerda (Caroline Oakley), his mistress Henrietta (Deborah Hester) and his former lover and Hollywood film star, Veronica (Elizabeth Williams) . Also visiting are Edward (John Highfield) and Midge (Jude Wright), whose romantic assertions are likewise thrown into the mix. As the list of romantic associations grows so does the list of potential suspects when Cristow is shot dead. Nearly everyone has a motive, but only one of them did the deed

Agatha Christie is our second-highest ranking author (JB Priestley is the highest). She apparently thought that Poirot’s appearance in the book had ruined it, so she eliminated the character from the play

Directed by Steve Andrews.  This seems to be the last involvement for David Pagdin, after 46 years, Kath Pagdin after 68 years, Ian Godley after 18 years and Vivien Stuart after 52 years (though she’ll return in 2022).  We have a DVD, from Steve A’s original video
