In this story by Edward Percy and Reginald Denham, Miss Fiske (Rita Benson) lives in a remote house with her companion, Ellen Creed (Elizabeth Birkby). Ellen, who has devoted her life to her sisters, Louisa and Emily (simple-minded maiden ladies played by Jean Stocks and Brenda Hester), invites them to visit her. These eccentric persons make themselves at home, but when Miss Fiske reminds Ellen it is time for them to go back, they are unwilling to do so. Miss Fiske and Ellen quarrel, and then Miss Fiske disappears…
Betty Bellamy produces. Elizabeth Birkby’s portrayal of Ellen Creed was described as “an impeccable performance which would have graced the professional stage”. Hazel Hancock joined, doing Publicity. She’s still involved! Vivien Gerrard also joins, as Lucy Gilham, and she stays for 19 years
Mary Keeton played Sister Theresa with “a lovely Irish brogue” – in next year’s Bonaventure, she’ll play a nun with a Scottish accent!
