At the final curtain, Julie announced that Mark and Clare were shortly to be married, and the backstage crew showered them with the confetti used in the action of the play!
The author Arnold Ridley was inspired to write the play after being stranded in a railway station near Bristol. And yes, it really is the Arnold Ridley who played Private Godfrey in Dad’s Army! He wrote 20 plays, many of which were made into films
