1957-01 (GDS) Dear Brutus

In a story by J.M.  Barrie, of Peter Pan fame, an eccentric Puck-ish man named Lob invites a number of guests to his country house at midsummer.  While they are there a large enchanted forest appears outside.  Lob takes the characters into the wood where they get a second chance to live out their illusions.  When they return they discover that it was their own characters rather than fate which determined the outcome, and that they would always take life’s wrong turnings

Alwyn Marriott produces.  The committee agreed that the resulting press criticism was “unfounded, and of no value”.  However, where that criticism concerned the scenery, there was agreement.  In fact, the stage staff stated emphatically that they would not build any more sets!
