We performed the original Allo Allo back in 2014, and it was a great success. Stannington Players did it in 2022 (with Mark Winton playing Rene, and after being interrupted by the Covid lockdowns), and shortly afterwards the script of this sequel turned up. We have a DVD, from Steve Atkinson’s original video
Several people played the same roles as in 2014: Caroline Oakley as Edith, Deborah Hester as Helga, Elizabeth Williams as Yvette, Jonathan Hester as Herr Flick, Maxine Townson as Mimi, and (for the third time) Mark Winton as Rene
Incidentally Molly Winton, who played a key role in choreographing the very funny Can-Can dance, is Mark’s daughter
The play needs a large cast, so the “net” was cast wide: Steve Rhodes and Henry Petherwick joined from the Stannington Players (and Henry also joins the upcoming Yeomen of the Guard cast); Mike Blackburn and Lewis Milner from the Panto technical team for lighting and sound effects; Panto’s Ewan Fellows also joined at the last minute as an airman when Ralph Hastings fell ill
Steve Atkinson was first involved as part of the 2014 show, with music and sound effects (and a brief appearance as an airman), but Leclerc is his first principal role. Pete Geary also joined, having seen an advert, and was cast as Gruber. Pete has sung in G&S productions for other groups, so we may see him again…
The Community Centre’s upgraded lighting system, with “moving head” spotlights was used for the first time
